Are job satisfaction and employee engagement different?

You ask any of the companies offering career management services in China, their major concern has always been two factors- employee engagement and job satisfaction. Often considered to be same, however, very few are aware about major differences between the two terms.

As per statistics, in an average company, nearly 32% of the staff comes in engaged category, while 17% are regarded as disengaged. This is a big reason why organisations these days are hiring the services of employee engagement in China PowerMyWork firms as engaging employees is easier said than actually done. Engaged employees feel happy, excited and satisfied with their job and thus the chances of them leaving the job is very less. It even has a positive impact on the business outcomes. And for a strong engagement, there is a requirement of strong foundation in the form of job satisfaction.

Employee engagement and job satisfaction are still not the same terms that can be used interchangeably.

Employee engagement is about the formation of an emotional connect with the company which impacts the belonging and dedication of the employee towards the job. The higher the engagement level, the higher is the employee’s loyalty.

Job satisfaction on the other hand is when the employee fully enjoys his/her work and job role. It is fueled by job fulfillment.

However, it job satisfaction is not a pre-requisite for employee engagement. But, when there is employee engagement, it is for sure that the employee likes or love his/her work.
